Calculate returns for straight bet, Asian handicap and Over/Under
⚠️ Return calculator. Asian handicap can result in half-win/half-loss when line is .25 or .75. 18+.
What it is
A payout calculator shows the financial outcome of a bet given your stake, the decimal odds, and the result. It computes the return, profit, and net payout, including partial settlements for Asian handicap or over/under lines that land exactly on half increments.
How it works
The calculation starts with the base formula: Return = Stake × Odds. For a $100 stake at odds 2.00, a full win returns $200. Profit is Return minus Stake ($100), and Net payout equals Profit ($100). Loss, Push, Half-win, and Half-loss modify the stake portions accordingly.
When the bet uses an Asian handicap line ending in .25 or .75, the stake splits equally between the two adjacent quarter lines. Example: a $100 bet on Asian Handicap -0.75 at odds 2.00 with a win by exactly 1 goal. Half the stake ($50) on -0.5 wins: return = $50 × 2.00 = $100, profit = $50. The other half on -1.0 pushes: return $50 stake, profit $0. Total Return = $100 + $50 = $150, Profit = $50, Net Payout = $50.
For a half-loss on Over/Under 2.25 with odds 1.90 and exactly 2 goals: $100 on Over 2.25 splits into $50 on Over 2.5 (loses, $0 return) and $50 on Over 2 (push, returns $50). Total Return = $50, Loss = $50 from stake, Profit = –$50, Net Payout = –$50. The calculator applies this logic automatically when you select 'Half-win' or 'Half-loss'.
How to use it
- Enter your stake in the 'Stake' field, for example $100.
- Type the decimal odds in the 'Odds (decimal)' field, such as 2.00.
- Select the actual outcome of the bet from the 'Bet result' dropdown: Win, Loss, Push, Half-win, or Half-loss.
- If using an Asian handicap or over/under line, enter the precise 'Line' or 'Line total' so the calculator can split the stake correctly.
- Read the 'Potential return' (total amount you would collect), 'Profit' (return minus stake), and 'Net payout' (profit or loss) to understand the exact financial impact.
How to read the result
- Potential return is the gross amount credited to your account if the bet wins or pushes, before deducting the original stake. It is not your net gain.
- Profit is the net gain after subtracting the stake: positive for a winning bet, negative for a loss. A push yields $0 profit.
- Net payout is synonymous with profit: it shows the actual change in your balance. For half-win or half-loss, it reflects the partial settlement.
- These outputs do not indicate whether the bet has positive expected value. They only quantify the outcome of one particular wager.
When not to trust the result
- The calculator shows what the bet pays, not whether the bet is worth taking. A high payout does not mean the odds have value; you must compare the implied probability to your own estimate.
- If you enter the wrong line or mismatch the bet result with the actual score, the calculation becomes meaningless. For example, selecting a half-win when the result is a full win will understate your return.
- Partial settlements from half-win or half-loss can distort your ROI if you record the full stake as the cost. For accurate tracking, book the effective stake at risk or adjust your records for the returned portion.
- The tool assumes all stakes are in USD and that the odds are decimal. Odds in other formats (fractional or American) must be converted before entry, as the calculator does not perform conversions.
- Net payout does not account for any bonus conditions, rollover requirements, or exchange fees. It only reflects the contractual payout from the bet slip.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Potential return and Profit?
- Potential return is the total amount you collect if you win, including your original stake. Profit is Potential return minus Stake: the net gain. For a $100 bet at odds 2.00, Potential return is $200, Profit is $100.
- When should I use Half-win or Half-loss?
- Use Half-win when your bet only partially wins due to an Asian handicap quarter line that results in a push for half the stake. Use Half-loss when half the stake loses and the other half pushes, like an Over 2.25 bet that lands on exactly 2 goals.
- Does the calculator account for the stake returned on a push?
- Yes. When you select Push, Half-win, or Half-loss, the calculator correctly returns the stake portions that are not lost. The Net payout reflects the net change to your balance.
- Can I use this calculator for systems or parlays?
- No. This calculator handles single bets only. For multiple selections, you would need a parlay calculator that multiplies odds and accounts for correlated outcomes.
